Bowling Green wins MAC volleyball tournament title

MUNCIE, Ind. — After four back-and-forth sets, the Bowling Green State University volleyball team pulled away in the decisive fifth set to claim the Mid-American Conference volleyball tournament on Tuesday, defeating top-seeded Ball State on its home floor.

The second-seeded Falcons won 23-25, 25-23, 25-23, 23-25, 15-9 to clinch a spot in the NCAA tournament.

Bowling Green (22-9) scored the first three points of the fifth set on kills by Petra Indrova and Lauryn Hovey, as well as a block by Kat Mandly and Alexis Mettille. The Falcons maintained a lead of two or three points until just before the midpoint of the set, when Ball State closed to 7-6 on a BG attack error.
