OXFORD, Ohio — Ty Eigner came out a winner in his first game as the Bowling Green State University hockey coach, as the Falcons claimed a 7-4 victory in their season opener at Miami of Ohio.
The Falcons went up against the coach Eigner replaced, Chris Bergeron, and engaged in a wild third period in which eight goals were recorded.
Cameron Wright, a junior forward, scored four goals for the Falcons, ranked 17th in the preseason USCHO.com poll.
Leading 2-1 after Wright scored a pair of goals in the second period, the Falcons scored three times in the first 10 minutes of the third period to go up 5-2.
