BOWLING GREEN — With 13:46 to play in the first quarter of Bowling Green’s 2022 season opener against UCLA, Bruins punter Nicholas Barr-Mira prepared to punt the football away.
There was very little out of the ordinary about it. Senior cornerback Davon Ferguson had hurried UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson on the previous play. The Falcons would presumably get the ball and mount their first offensive drive of the season.
As is common in college football, Bowling Green’s plan was soon in ruins – because junior running back Pasean Wimberly blocked the punt, and sophomore outside linebacker Charles Rosser recovered it for a touchdown.
