BOWLING GREEN — It took just one half of basketball for Amy Velasco to secure a new career best, and the Bowling Green State University women’s basketball program eclipsed a milestone mark for the first time in more than a decade and a half on Sunday at the Stroh Center.
In Bowling Green’s previous contest against Valparaiso, the true freshman guard Velasco scored a career high 17 points. On Sunday afternoon, Velasco eclipsed that with 19 points in the game’s first 20 minutes, leading to the program’s first regular-season 100-point performance in 17 years in a 100-48 romp of Division II Notre Dame College.
