Bowling Green loses starting safety for season

BOWLING GREEN — Jerry McBride, III, Bowling Green’s starting strong safety, will miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.

The senior from Missouri had started 16 straight games — which was tied for the most on the team — before he was forced to miss last week’s game at Notre Dame with an injury.

Bowling Green coach Scot Loeffler confirmed McBride would need corrective surgery after undergoing evaluation.

McBride has started 18 times in his career and has been one of the Falcons’ most reliable players. Despite missing a game, he ranked fifth on the team with 24 tackles going into Bowling Green’s game against Toledo this week.
