Bowling Green hockey rebounds to end nonconference play on strong note

BOWLING GREEN — The final nonconference tune-up series gave Bowling Green’s hockey team a new level of confidence heading into its Central Collegiate Hockey Association-only schedule to wrap up the 2021-22 regular season.

The Falcons ran the gauntlet with tough nonleague opponents to feed off of, including matchups against ranked Ohio State and Providence, and a preseason scrimmage at No. 3 Michigan.

Those tests have head coach Ty Eigner feeling good about where his team is. A tournament in Milwaukee resulted in a 6-2 defeat to No. 16 Providence on Tuesday, followed by a 2-1 victory — Eigner’s 50th as BGSU’s coach — against Yale on Wednesday.
