BOWLING GREEN — The Bowling Green State University hockey team held a distinct advantage in shots on goal throughout the course of Saturday's game against Mercyhurst at Slater Family Ice Arena.
The Falcons, however, struggled to score, allowing Mercyhurst to escape with a 2-1 victory.
Bowling Green (3-1-0) lost for the first time this season despite a 39-13 advantage in shots.
Mercyhurst (1-0-0) got on the board first with an opening-period goal by Justin Cmunt on the power play that was assisted by Steven Ipri and Austin Heidemann. That was the lone goal in the first period as BGSU held an 8-7 advantage in shots on net.
