BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green ice hockey took a brief second-period lead Friday night at the Slater Family Ice Arena, but No. 9 Western Michigan fought back with four unanswered goals to knock off the Falcons 5-2.
It was BGSU’s first game against a ranked opponent this season, and the first game of a weekend home-and-home series that will continue Saturday in Kalamazoo. The matchup came one day after the Falcons announced coach Ty Eigner was reinstated following an investigation into alleged hazing at an off-campus event involving student athletes on the team.
Western Michigan (2-0-1) struck first Friday with Dylan Wendt’s goal at the 7:35 mark of the first period.
