BOWLING GREEN — It was supposed to be a coronation — the return of Bowling Green to the ranks of the bowl eligible after seven years of wandering in the college football desert.
Instead, the Falcons were left licking their wounds after a blowout 40-6 loss to Kent State that brought their three-game winning streak to a screeching halt.
“It's really disappointing,” senior inside linebacker Darren Anders said. “We felt like we'd come in here and get a win. We just really didn't give ourselves a chance.”
Bowling Green fought the Golden Flashes to a scoreless first quarter, but offered little in the way of resistance as Kent State reeled off three touchdowns to take a 20-0 halftime lead.
