BOWLING GREEN — The Mid-American Conference plays three football seasons, Bowling Green coach Scot Loeffler is fond of saying.
The nonconference schedule is a season. October, during which most conference teams strictly play Saturday games, is a season. And the made-for-TV bonanza of November is a season, as well.
The Falcons, however, have experienced a season’s worth of drama in September alone. They’ve played just one 60-minute game with both their head coach and starting quarterback. They had neither Saturday and fell 45-14 to Mississippi State in a game that might represent the most conventional contest they’ve played in the past three weeks.
