TUCSON — Bowling Green State University took two of the first three sets in Tuesday’s National Invitational Volleyball Championship title match at Arizona, but the host Wildcats pulled away in the fourth and fifth sets to win the crown in front of 2,696 fans at the McKale Center.
Arizona prevailed 27-29, 25-23, 18-25, 25-17, 15-9. Bowling Green, which won the Mid-American Conference regular-season title, finishes with a 25-10 record.
Bowling Green trailed by six points in the first set at 18-12 before rallying to take a 21-20 lead. The teams went back and forth from there, with the Falcons denying Arizona (24-9) set points at 24-23 and 25-24.
