BOWLING GREEN — Amy Velasco had a game-high 17 points, and Elissa Brett totaled 16 points and 11 rebounds as Bowling Green’s women’s basketball team outscored Ball State 49-23 in the second half to earn a 82-58 Mid-American Conference victory on Saturday at the Stroh Center.
Ball State (7-4, 0-1 MAC) led 20-16 after the first quarter and 35-33 at halftime.
The Falcons came out firing in the third quarter as Nyla Hampton hit a 3-pointer and a jumper around a Kadie Hempfling layup to tie it at 40-all three minutes in.
Brett hit a 3-pointer a few seconds later to give the Falcons the lead back, sparking an 8-0 BGSU run.
