BOWLING GREEN — Every step this season is a reminder for Marcus Milton.
That the Bowling Green cornerback is here, in 2018, as an established leader of a Division I football team, is something of an upset. For much of his adolescence, the prospect of playing a college sport seemed almost unattainable for Milton.
But what Milton did have was a support system well beyond his parents, and it’s visible on his feet.
On the left cleat he wrote, “RIP PAPA,” a tribute to his grandfather, Winfield Milton, Jr. On the right, it’s “RIP VR,” a nod to family friend Victor Ross.
