Bowling Green State University redshirt senior Payton Gottshall has been named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's pitcher of the week.
Gottshall also earned the Mid-American Conference pitcher of the week honors Tuesday.
The Massillon, Ohio, native was dominant in her three appearances last week against Cleveland State. Gottshall had a 3-0 record without allowing an earned run. She allowed just five hits in 21 1/3 innings and held her opponents' batting average to just .072.
In her three appearances, Gottshall struck out 51 and did not walk a batter.
In the Falcons' season opener last Friday, Gottshall threw a one-hit shutout, striking out a school-record 20 batters.
