Bowling Green State University volleyball standout Jessica Andrews took advantage of a special opportunity to represent something bigger than herself last week.
The Falcons’ 6-foot-4 sophomore middle blocker, who was one of the best defenders at the net in the Mid-American Conference last season, played for the Canadian national team in the Women’s U23 Pan American Cup in Mexico. It was the first time that Andrews, a native of Guelph, Ontario, represented her country in an international tournament.
“I wasn’t really expecting it, but I was definitely super excited,” Andrews said. “I’ve had a lot of opportunities to train with younger national teams for Canada, but I’ve never had the opportunity to play.
