KALAMAZOO — The Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team got out to a strong start in the first half and never looked back, rolling to an 87-73 road win over Western Michigan in Mid-American Conference action at Read Fieldhouse on Wednesday.
The Falcons jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the early going after layups by Erika Porter, Olivia Hill, and Amy Velasco. The visitors led 28-15 following the first quarter, and carried a 52-27 lead over the Broncos (12-16, 8-9 MAC) into the locker room at halftime.
Western Michigan made things a little dicey in the fourth quarter, trimming BGSU’s lead to 12 (78-66) on a Nile Muguira 3-pointer with 4:23 remaining.
