KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Bowling Green State University’s women’s basketball team overcame a 14-point deficit midway through the third quarter to upend Western Michigan 65-53 in Mid-American Conference play on Saturday at University Arena.
The Falcons bounced back from Wednesday’s home loss against Northern Illinois to improve to 23-3 (12-2 MAC). Western Michigan fell to 10-15 (5-9).
BGSU trailed 18-13 after the first quarter, 29-24 at halftime, and 40-26 with 5:21 left in the third. But the Falcons used a 23-9 fourth-quarter advantage, including a 16-2 run over the final seven minutes, to get the win.
Elissa Brett poured in a game-high 27 points (10 of 10 free throws) with nine rebounds, while Amy Velasco added 16 points on 7 of 9 shooting off the bench for BGSU.
