INDIANAPOLIS — Bowling Green State University could not muster any postseason magic, falling 75-63 to Butler at Hinkle Fieldhouse in the opener of the Women’s National Invitational Tournament on Thursday.
The Falcons end the season a game over .500 at 16-15, suffering their third straight loss.
Butler led wire to wire, starting the game on a 14-2 run and never looking back. Three-pointers by Rachel Kent, Riley Makalusky, and Karsyn Norman, plus three points from Cristen Carter, gave Butler its 12-point lead with 6:17 left in the opening quarter.
BGSU, however, did not give in, responding with a run of its own to get within two points with just more than three minutes left in the quarter.
