KENT, Ohio — The Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team was in a back and forth battle with Kent State, a contest which saw the host Golden Flashes break away down the stretch for an 81-71 victory in the Mid-American Conference opener for both teams Wednesday afternoon.
BGSU (6-6, 0-1 MAC) held an 11-5 advantage in the first quarter but were outscored by Kent State (8-5, 1-0) 9-2 over the final 3:45 of the quarter.
Kendall Moxey put the Falcons up 13-9 at the 2:17 mark, then Kent State responded as Janae Tyler converted a layup and a trio of Jenna Batch free throws that gave them a 14-13 edge after one.
