BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University’s hockey season came to a heartbreaking end on Saturday as Ferris State pulled out a 2-1 overtime victory in the second game of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association quarterfinals at Slater Family Ice Arena.
Ferris State (14-18-4), the No. 6 seed in the CCHA tournament, advanced to next week’s semifinals after winning the best-of-three series 2-0. BGSU, the No. 3 seed, finished the season 15-19-2.
After BGSU tied the game at 1-1 with less than two minutes left in the third period, Ferris State’s Jason Brancheau scored the game-winning goal at the 4:04 mark of overtime.
