BOWLING GREEN — A significant investment for Bowling Green State University’s hockey program is making plenty of progress.
The $5.75 million renovations at Slater Family Ice Arena are “going really well,” according to BGSU athletic director Derek van der Merwe. Construction and upgrades have begun in several areas, including a new mezzanine level on the south end of the arena that will add around 100 seats in a handful of suite and club areas.
“They’re continuing to work the frame out and [starting] to put the structure in place to support the suite areas and the new club seats and kind of that general club entertainment space, making sure all of those big areas are coming together to be ready for the start of our hockey season,” van der Merwe said.
