The Bowling Green State University football team will kick off the 2021 season under the lights on a Thursday night in a nationally televised game at Tennessee.
The Falcons will kickoff against the Volunteers at Neyland Stadium at 8 p.m. on Sept. 2 in an opener for both teams that will be televised on the SEC Network.
The contest was originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 4.
Tennessee Director of Athletics Danny White said the ability for BG fans to attend the game was considered before the game was moved from a Saturday to a Thursday.
“Any time you consider moving football games to a weekday — which is rare — you want to be sensitive to out-of-town fans who have to make plans to travel to Knoxville,” White said.
