HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Bowling Green men’s basketball made a late charge to cut into its deficit, but the comeback fell short in Monday’s 77-68 loss at Southern Mississippi on the opening night of the college basketball season.
The host Golden Eagles took their largest lead of the game at 71-59 with 3:57 to play in the game before BGSU used a 7-0 run to make it interesting late. A Falcon turnover and four made Southern Miss free throws in the final minute kept BG from getting any closer.
Southern Miss led nearly wire to wire, with Bowling Green’s only advantage coming at 3-2 early on.
