BOWLING GREEN — The on-field struggles of Bowling Green football in recent years can be boiled down to the simplest of measures.
Not rocket science so much as the science of beating the Rockets, Bowling Green's performances as a whole have been tied directly to defense, or lack thereof.
With very few exceptions, the games that Bowling Green won — like back-to-back victories against Central Michigan and Akron in 2018 and a 20-7 stunner against Toledo last year — were marked by a defense that was fast and disruptive.
“When we do that, we tend to win games,” said senior linebacker Kholbe Coleman, a third-team all-MAC selection last season.
