BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University’s women’s basketball team built a 30-10 lead after the first quarter and held on to knock off Liberty 87-80 in the first round of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament on Thursday at the Stroh Center.
The Falcons improved to 28-6 in advancing to the second round against either Green Bay or Niagara at a date and location to be determined. The Flames finished the season 24-9.
Elissa Brett scored a game-high 27 points to lead BGSU, while Jocelyn Tate added 15 points.
Mya Berkman’s 16 points and 13 rebounds fronted Liberty.
