BOWLING GREEN —This week, Bowling Green hockey will make an in-conference trip unlike anything else in Division I athletics.
The Falcons will play a two-game series in Alaska, a campus more than 3,700 miles from their own. For reference, their travel this week is about 400 miles longer than Hawaii-Wyoming football games in the Mountain West Conference. What’s more, this trek to the state will be their second of the season, as the Falcons played at Alaska-Anchorage in early November.
Now comes the visit to Fairbanks for games Friday and Saturday night.
“Nobody has travel like this,” BG coach Chris Bergeron said, “and we have two Alaska teams in our league [WCHA].
