BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University’s hockey team earned its first conference tournament series win since 2020 as the Falcons topped Michigan Tech 4-0 in the second game of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association quarterfinals on Saturday at Slater Family Ice Arena.
BGSU (18-13-4) won the best-of-3 series 2-0 to advance to next week’s CCHA tournament semifinals. The series win was the first since the Falcons swept Alaska in the first round of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association tournament and right before the rest of the season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
BGSU’s Quinn Emerson and Ethan Scardina scored late in the first period to put the Falcons ahead 2-0.
