BOWLING GREEN — The Bowling Green State University hockey team is one win away from a series victory after Quinn Emerson’s overtime goal lifted the Falcons to a 2-1 win over Michigan Tech in the opening round of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association tournament Friday night at Slater Family Ice Arena.
BGSU (17-13-4) can clinch the quarterfinal over Michigan Tech (16-16-3) with a win in Game 2 of the best-of-3 series at 7:07 p.m. Saturday at Slater. If the Huskies rebound in the second game, Game 3 is at 5:07 p.m. Sunday.
It looked as if Michigan Tech had all the momentum entering overtime, coming off a third period in which it tied the game at 1 and outshot BGSU 9-7.
