BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University scored two goals in the opening 12 minutes, tacked on an insurance score late in the third, and used a strong defensive performance to knock off Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 3-1 in a men’s hockey game on Thursday at Slater Family Ice Arena.
The Falcons ended a four-game losing streak to improve to 9-12. RPI fell to 7-10-1.
BGSU’s Austen Swankler scored his team-leading 13th goal of the season at the 9:08 mark to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead, then added his BGSU-best 12th assist of the year when Ethan Scardina scored a power-play goal at 12:10 to make it 2-0.
