HOUGHTON, Mich. — Bowling Green State University hockey is on the brink of elimination in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association tournament after a 5-0 loss at Michigan Tech on Friday.
The No. 3 seed Huskies took Game 1 of the best-of-3 Mason Cup quarterfinal series, and will have a chance to close out BGSU on Saturday. The No. 6 seed Falcons were outshot 44-21, and suffered their second-worst margin of defeat this season.
Michigan Tech’s goals came from five different scorers. Logan Pietila drew first blood with 8:16 left in the first period, Isaac Gordon doubled the lead around the midway point of the second, and Henry Bartle made it 3-0 about three minutes later.
