ALLENTOWN, Pa. — When its season was threatened with an early ending, the defending national champions rallied to stay alive.
That spelled heartbreak for Bowling Green.
No. 2 Minnesota-Duluth tied the game on a good-luck goal with just more than three minutes to goal in regulation, then tallied the winner 11:45 into overtime to defeat the 15th-ranked Falcons 2-1 in the first round.
Parker Mackay scored the winner for Duluth, which will advance to the round of eight to face either Arizona State or Quinnipiac.
Brandon Kruse had the Falcons’ lone goal.
