MARQUETTE, Mich. — The final weekend of the regular season got off to a losing start for Bowling Green State University hockey, which gave up the first three goals in a 4-1 loss at Northern Michigan on Friday.
The Falcons (13-19-1, 11-11-1-2 Central Collegiate Hockey Association) were outshot 10-6 and racked up nine penalty minutes in the first period. The Wildcats cashed in on one of their three power plays when Kristof Papp scored past goaltender Cole Moore just 4:46 into the game.
BGSU had more chances in the second period, outshooting Northern Michigan 11-7,, but it was the Wildcats who extended their lead with two goals less than two minutes apart.
