BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University goaltender Ryan Bednard has agreed to terms with the Florida Panthers, he announced Monday.
The Falcons’ netminder will forego his final season of eligibility at Bowling Green to join the team that drafted him.
The 6-foot-6 Michigan native had an excellent junior season for the Falcons, who won 25 games and qualified for the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1990. Bednard finished the season with a 1.77 goals-against average and a save percentage of .927.
He won 20 games during the 2018-19 and was particularly good in BG’s overtime loss to defending national champion Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday.
