BOWLING GREEN — A defensive slugfest on Saturday turned into another devastating loss for Bowling Green State University’s football team.
Northern Illinois scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, severely limited BGSU’s offense after its opening-possession touchdown, and pulled out a 17-7 Mid-American Conference victory at Doyt Perry Stadium.
“Give credit to Northern Illinois. They were the more physical team at the end of the day,” BGSU coach Scot Loeffler said. “I thought defensively, we stopped the run, played probably our best game in a long time here. I thought we were exceptional stopping the run considering we were playing one of the best rush offenses in this conference.
