CLEVELAND — A disastrous start in Saturday’s Mid-American Conference women’s basketball championship put Bowling Green State University in a big hole early.
Not being able to pull within one possession after having several chances to do so in the third quarter was even tougher.
Toledo’s 12-0 run in the opening three minutes and 19-4 advantage in the first six forced BGSU to play from behind the entire way. The top-seeded Rockets answered every challenge the No. 2 Falcons gave and pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 73-58 win at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
“The start of the game really hurt us,” BGSU coach Robyn Fralick said.
