BEMIDJI, Minn. — Matt Pohlkamp had his second goal in as many games, this time with 16:11 left in regulation that gave the Bowling Green State University the lead for good Saturday as it upset Bemidji State 2-1 and earned a sweep of its best-of-3 Western Collegiate Hockey Association semifinal series.
The Falcons (21-17-2), the fourth seed, now will play in the winner-take-all one-game championship at the winner of the Michigan Tech-Minnesota State series. Minnesota State beat Michigan Tech 1-0 also Saturday to tie that series at one game apiece. The Beavers (22-16-3) had beaten Bowling Green in three of their four regular-season meetings this season, and had a 1-0 lead in this game thanks to a Gerry Fitzgerald goal just 3:16 into the contest.
