AKRON — The University of Akron’s Virshon Cotton made a 3-pointer with 3.7 seconds left to lift the Zips to an 80-78 victory over the Bowling Green State University men’s basketball team in a Mid-American Conference game played at Akron’s JAR Arena Saturday.
Justin Turner led the Falcons (11-6, 2-2 MAC) with 30 points. Springfield High School graduate Demajeo Wiggins finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Dylan Frye added 14.
Cotton finished with 23 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead Akron (8-8, 1-3 MAC), while Jimond Ivey socred 19, Jaden Saylen had 14 and Malcolm Duvivier 13.
