BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University defeated Ferris State 5-2 in the second game of a first-round Western Collegiate Hockey Association series Saturday played at the Slater Family Ice Arena.
The No. 17 Falcons (22-10-6) swept the two-game series after winning Friday’s contest 2-1 in overtime. BG does not know its second-round playoff opponent, because the Northern Michigan series with Alabama Huntsville is tied at 1 and will be decided Sunday.
This marks the eighth consecutive season the Falcons have won a first-round playoff series.
Ferris State finishes the season 14-23-1.
BG took a 2-0 lead after the first period thanks to goals by Sam Craggs at the 5-minute, 25-second of the period and Max Johnson’s power-play marker at the 14:22 mark.
