The last time we saw Jasmine Matthews, she was the picture of athletic grace, a sweet-shooting guard for the Bowling Green women’s basketball team.
Nobody played with more heart or joy.
“One of a kind,” former Falcons coach Jen Roos said.
Now, the kid teammates knew as the light of the team — the first one to cheer and console and encourage — remains undimmed, but her body is shutting off.
She is 25 and in a wheelchair.
After Matthews wrote off her mysterious early symptoms to the stress of finishing grad school at BG, she returned home to suburban Chicago in 2017 to receive a devastating diagnosis.
