ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Before he became a record-setting rookie tight end for the Detroit Lions, Sam LaPorta had a historic college career at the University of Iowa.
And prior to that, he was set to take his talents on the football field to Bowling Green State University.
“I had already developed and progressed a lot of the relationships at Bowling Green already. The tight end coach, obviously coach [Scot] Loeffler,” LaPorta told The Blade on Friday. “So Iowa, heck, they offered me five or six days before that signing day. It muddied my vision for what the next four years were going to look like for me.
