BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University’s football team has had some interesting season-opening opponents during the Scot Loeffler era.
Usually, the Falcons start with power-conference foes on the road or high-end Group of Five teams.
That won’t be the case for the 2024 campaign, but that doesn’t mean the Falcons have a cakewalk to start the year.
When Fordham comes to Doyt Perry Stadium for BGSU’s season opener at 7 p.m. on Aug. 29, the Falcons will be going up against one of the best quarterbacks, running backs, and overall offenses in the FCS. After losing to a talented Liberty squad to start 2023, falling to power conference teams UCLA and Tennessee the previous two seasons, and dropping the Battle of I-75 to rival Toledo in the shortened 2020 campaign, BGSU knows that it will have to be sharp to be 1-0 for the first time since 2019.
