David Moyes is clinging to the hope that a trip to Bournemouth could prove a lucky omen in his bid to win a first Premier League match with Sunderland.
The Black Cats are already eight points adrift of safety having made the worst 10-game start in Premier League history.
But Moyes remembers a similar situation during his first job in management at Preston North End in 1998.
The Scot did not win during his first eight league matches in charge before facing a Bournemouth side which included current boss Eddie Howe.
