Luton captain Tom Lockyer 'alert and responsive' in hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest against Bournemouth... with the Premier League match abandoned after players decided not to carry on

The Premier League game between Bournemouth and Luton was abandoned after Luton captain Tom Lockyer suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch.

The players were taken off the pitch by referee Simon Hooper and after a lengthy delay, the Bournemouth staff doctor confirmed that Lockyer was 'alert and responsive.'

Luton's medical staff said the Welsh centre-back is 'stable' and his family are with him in hospital.

Lockyer, who collapsed in the Championship play-off final earlier this year, dropped to the floor in an off the ball incident in the 62nd minute of the game at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
