Liverpool have been hit by a setback in stadium developments, with the new upper tier of the Anfield Road Stand set to be closed for the club’s first home match of the season.
Fans will be disappointed to learn that Anfield, which is set to increase capacity to 61,000 when the works are completed, will not be full for the visit of Bournemouth on August 19.
Works started on the development in September 2021 with the target of being ready for the start of this coming season but contractor Buckingham Group still has vital work to do in order to comply with Liverpool City Council’s requirements.
