Jefferson Lerma charged with violent conduct for BITING an opponent against Sheffield Wednesday after seven-week deliberating process... but midfielder 'strenuously denies the allegation' and will request a hearing with the FA

Bournemouth midfielder Jefferson Lerma has been charged for violent conduct by the FA, after an alleged bite on an opponent during a match with Sheffield Wednesday on November 3.

The Colombian is alleged to have bitten another player in the 83rd minute of the fixture, which promotion hopefuls Bournemouth lost by a slender 1-0 margin.

Lerma strongly denies the allegation and Bournemouth have confirmed a hearing will be requested to take place between the player and the FA.

With the match and alleged incident having taken place in early November, the decision to make a charge for violent conduct has arrived after a seven-week deliberation process.
