Huddersfield condemned Yorkshire rivals Barnsley to relegation to League One and confirmed a play in the Championship play-offs with victory at the John Smith's Stadium.
Goals from Jordan Rhodes and Harry Toffolo in the first half were enough to earn Carlos Corberan's side a victory which moves them to within a point of second-placed Bournemouth.
Barnsley, who scored a late consolation through Callum Styles, needed to win to keep their slim hopes of survival alive but rarely threatened as their stay in the second tier came to an end.
