Harry Arter to use Premier League and Bournemouth as a platform to nailing down a place for Republic of Ireland

Harry Arter will use the Premier League as a platform to cement his place in the Republic of Ireland side after finally ending speculation over his international future.

The 26-year-old made his first competitive appearance for Martin O'Neill's men as a starter during Saturday's 1-0 win in Austria.

It was reported last month that London-born Arter was set to defect to England - claims later denied by the Bournemouth midfielder - but his starring role in Vienna has now put him at forefront of O'Neill's plans.

And Arter wants to use the winter months on a domestic front to further impress his Ireland boss ahead of March's meeting with Wales in Dublin.
