Christian Benteke pleads with Wilfried Zaha to stay as new £32m striker looks to get Crystal Palace up and running

Christian Benteke has asked Wilfried Zaha to stay at Crystal Palace as the club-record £32million signing starts to make his presence felt in south London.

Benteke has been at Selhurst Park less than a week, but has also already put himself forward to be his new team's penalty taker after Yohan Cabaye missed against Bournemouth on Saturday.

And his influence has stretched to the Zaha saga, too, with the Belgian striker telling the Tottenham Hotspur target to stick around as Alan Pardew looks to build a team based on the pair's strengths.

Benteke chose to come to Palace when leaving Liverpool, inspired by their manager's planned style of play, and he knows just how key Zaha could be in providing service to him from out wide.
