Brighton CEO Paul Barber insists the Seagulls 'do not need to sell players to survive' after Manchester United sent scouts to watch Karou Mitoma, but admits the highly-rated winger 'will be in the spotlight' this summer

Brighton CEO Paul Barber has played down talks of winger Karou Mitoma leaving the club in the next transfer window.

It comes after reports that Manchester United have sent scouts to watch the Japan star in recent weeks, potentially with a view to bring him in over the summer.

Mitoma has been a key player for the Seagulls this season, scoring nine goals across all competitions including dramatic late winners against Liverpool and Bournemouth.

For Barber, the key thing was to focus on the rest of the season, as he told The Beautiful Game podcast: 'Obviously he's [Mitoma] another player that will be in the spotlight in the next transfer window.
