Bournemouth's point at Manchester United proves perfect remedy for manager Eddie Howe

Bournemouth's hard-earned point was a tonic for manager Eddie Howe who arrived late at Old Trafford after being struck down with a stomach virus at the team hotel overnight.

Howe was advised by the club’s medical staff to avoid contact with the players and get some rest, so he travelled to the ground separately and kept his distance in the dressing-room.

The 39-year-old Bournemouth boss was able to take his place in the dugout, but his assistant Jason Tindall spent most of the first half on the touchline before he was sent to the stands at half-time by referee Kevin Friend for protesting about Andrew Surman’s sending-off.
